Staples McDannold Stewart is a specialized law firm, well experienced in providing legal services to government,
including local governments, health authorities and various provincial
government bodies. The firm has extensive experience in public health
law through its work starting in the early 1980s for the Capital Regional
Districts former Health Department and all of the local regional
health authorities since their creation in 1997. The firm provided
these services through a contract with the Ministry of Health dating
from April 1, 1997 to March 31, 2002.
The professional and support staff of the firm is experienced, well
trained and efficient, with a strong background in relevant public
health law matters. We are able to meet any contingency that might
arise in these matters. We do not act for local businesses, developers
or financial institutions that finance developments and do not anticipate
conflicts of interest arising between the Regional Health Authorities
and our local government clients. We have found that to be a rare
occurrence. Law Society of British Columbia Rules require us not to
act for either party when a conflict arises, unless the parties consent.
