Peter
Johnson is a partner and a member of our solicitor’s group.
He was called to
the BC Bar in 1990 and brings 4 years experience as an in house assistant
city solicitor to our practice. This background enables him to understand
and appreciate the concerns of both local government staff and elected
officials in responding to requests for legal advice. His knowledge of
claims management and insurance litigation provides him with the tools
to advise our local government clients on liability issues and to draft
defensive contracts. In addition to contract advice and drafting, his
in house experience also includes legal advice on the interpretation of
all types of provincial and federal legislation affecting local governments,
as well as local government bylaws; developing and drafting policies and
bylaws; requests for access to records and appearing at Commissioners
hearings under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act;
building code administration, inspection and enforcement matters; and
issues concerning elected officials.
