Maja Stupar, before her calls to the B.C. and Alberta Bars in 2008, graduated with Distinction from the B.A. program in International Relations at the University of Calgary, and obtained an L.L.B. from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. During law school, she worked at the Legal Aid Society of Alberta as an intake worker, and for the City of Calgary Law Department, Prosecutions Section, as a researcher.
Maja articled at the City of Calgary Law Department and rotated through a range of legal services, including bylaw prosecutions, litigation, real estate, corporate solicitor work, and legal research. As a bylaw prosecutor, she made numerous court appearances and conducted officer training on evidence, courtroom procedure, and enforcement issues. Maja also handled commercial real-estate transactions, performed risk analyses and provided legal opinions on a broad variety of legal issues to one of Canada’s fastest-growing municipalities.
Maja is passionate about providing legal services to local governments and is interested in Aboriginal and heritage conservation issues. At Staples McDannold Stewart, she brings an enforcement perspective to bylaw drafting, and provides research support to both solicitor and litigation groups, in addition to providing a broad variety of solicitor’s services to our clients.
